Insider guide
Shopping Century City.
The story
Century City's shopping is one open-air center: Westfield Century City at 10250 Santa Monica Blvd, between Avenue of the Stars and Century Park West. It opened in 1964 as Century Square, built by Del E. Webb's company, and finished a major expansion in 2017. That rebuild brought Eataly, the multi-level Italian market that is now the center's food destination.
Three department stores anchor it: Nordstrom, Bloomingdale's and Macy's. Around them are big brand stores like Apple and Zara, a cluster of men's shops, jewelers and a full supermarket. It suits a practical day of errands as much as a fashion trip, and families can make an outing of American Girl.
What to Expect
Nordstrom has designer and contemporary clothing and a large shoe department, and Bloomingdale's runs in-store brand shops such as a Moncler corner. Macy's, on the second level near Eataly, covers apparel, shoes, beauty and home basics. Hollister is nearby on the same level. For men, Buck Mason (Suite 1760) sells tees, denim and knits with complimentary hemming, and Suitsupply (Space 1825) has suits in Italian fabrics, Custom Made suits and in-store alterations. Tiffany & Co. (Suite 1360) is on the first floor, and the Rolex Boutique run by Gearys is in Suite 1375.
Apple has a Genius Bar and bookable Apple Vision Pro demos. American Girl, entered from the second floor, has a doll salon, a doll hospital and a cafe serving afternoon tea. Gelson's, a full-service supermarket, sits on parking level P1, and Blue Bottle Coffee on level one and the Nespresso Boutique cover coffee.
Best Time to Visit
Most stores run Monday to Thursday 10am to 9pm, Friday and Saturday 10am to 10pm, and Sunday 11am to 8pm. Zara stays open until 10pm every day. Bloomingdale's and Macy's close at 9pm Monday to Saturday, and on Sunday Bloomingdale's closes at 7pm and Macy's at 8pm. Tiffany & Co. closes at 8pm Monday to Thursday and 6pm on Sunday, and the Rolex boutique closes at 7pm Monday to Saturday.
If You Only Have an Hour
Park in the Red garage and start at Nordstrom. Walk over to Tiffany & Co. on the first floor, then to Buck Mason or Suitsupply. Finish at Eataly for fresh pasta to take home.
Where to Eat
Din Tai Fung (unit 2400) is known for its pork and crab xiao long bao, so expect a wait at peak hours. Eataly spreads across levels 2 and 3 with fresh pasta to go, a Negroni counter and sit-down meals at La Pizza & La Pasta. Casa Dani, from chef Dani García, serves tapas and wood-fired paellas from an open kitchen. Katsuya does crispy rice with spicy tuna in a Philippe Starck-designed room. Super Peach is David Chang's Momofuku spot, with slow-roasted baby back ribs and lobster noodles. Javier's, with its hand-shaken margaritas and seafood enchiladas, works for a business lunch or dinner after shopping.
